I feel like I’m in a freaking bizarro world. The US government is pushing “MAHA” (Make America Healthy Again) but celebrating that Coke is now saying it wants to add a cane sugar-based product (note - not replace the corn syrup one). There is nothing healthier about cane sugar vs HFCS. Drinking any soda is bad for you.
Then the CEO of Coca-Cola:
But, he added, Coca-Cola wants to explore new options to suit consumer preferences.
Do they? Then why wasn’t this announced until Donald Trump made a beef about it? But yeah I’m glad the Trump Administration is concentrating on the important things.
So this is a win for the Trump admin I guess? His base thinks he did something marvelous though the reality is nothing changed. I guess they don’t realize that around Passover/Easter every year coke with cane sugar is available in 2-liter bottles? Coke itself doesn’t have to change anything other than adding what will be a more expensive version of the “real thing” onto their product portfolio. And from a health perspective nothing changes. Seems like yet another great deal for business for sure. For the American public? Not quite.
